During his term of office as R.E.G.C., Sir Knight Albert L. Kappeler, Jr., created and established an award known as the "Illustrious Knight of the Triangle". The detail of this award was published in General Order No. 3 for the 2000-2001 Templar Year and also included instructions for nominations.

  1. A Constituent Commandery of 100 members or less may make a nomination for the award. Additional nominations may be made for each additional 100 members or portion thereof.
  2. A nominee must be a Knight Templar for a minimum of 5 years from the date of knighting. The award is intended for those Sir Knights who have given exceptional and dedicated service to their Commandery.
  3. The award consists of a distinctive jewel, as depicted above, to be worn on the right breast of the Templar uniform, centered above the name tag.

In recognition of their past and present service and continued dedication to Pennsylvania Templary, "The Illustrious Knight of the Triangle" is awarded to all Eminent Grand Elected Officers, Right Eminent Past Grand Commanders, Knight Templar Cross of Honor recipients and those Knights Templar who have been awarded the Knight Commander of the Temple by the Grand Encampment of the United States of America.

Acceptance of the "Illustrious Knight of the Triangle" award is contingent upon the payment of $100.00 by the nominee or other party for the Grand Commandery Endowment Fund.
